Our Story

Matt's love for all things automotive began at an early age, turning wrenches on his family’s dirt track racecars. By the age of 16, he had already embarked on his 20+ year automotive career, honing his skills across every facet of the repair industry. In 2016, Matt made a pivotal decision to specialize in Japanese and Korean vehicles, recognizing their unique engineering and the increasing demand for expertise in this area. It was in 2018 that he found his true automotive home at Japan Auto Care, where his passion thrived beyond mere work.

During his time at Japan Auto Care, Matt had the privilege of working closely with his long-time mentor and shop owner, Jack Knoester. Their shared dedication to exceptional service, reasonable prices, and respectful and transparent communication became the bedrock of Japan Auto Care’s values. With Jack’s retirement on the horizon in 2023, Matt and his wife Brie were presented with a golden opportunity to assume ownership of Japan Auto Care, combining Matt’s automotive knowledge and Brie’s expertise in operations management and customer service.

As proud life-long Orangevale residents themselves, they are excited to carry on the long-standing tradition of excellence cultivated by Japan Auto Care within the Orangevale community.
